Gaia Ghazaryan is an Armenian conductor, award winning violinist and an educator based in London. Her work is driven by a belief that classical music should be welcoming, inclusive and relevant to everyone. Through her orchestra, Gaia brings orchestral music beyond traditional concert halls and into more intimate and non-traditional spaces, creating opportunities for musicians while introducing classical music to new audiences.
Her own deep connection to the classical repertoire, which has been profoundly life-changing for her, shapes her approach to conducting, allowing her to bring new interpretation and emotional connection to the music while remaining true to the character and traditions of the works she conducts. Passionate about representation and diversity within classical music, Gaia champions female, Armenian, local and underrepresented composers, while creating a platform for musicians from diverse backgrounds. Her aim is to create an environment where musicians feel valued, audiences feel welcomed, and classical music can be experienced without the barriers of traditional formality.
